Moshood 25th Anniversary Fashion Show
In 1994, Moshood not only opened his flagship store in Fort Greene; the Nigerian-born designer also held his first annual community fashion show, right out on the sidewalk. Last Sunday he celebrated 25 years in business (!) with his 25th fashion show, this time from a new store location in Bed-Stuy’s Restoration Plaza.
Hundreds of fans of Moshood the man and Moshood the brand, including a host of politicians (New York Attorney General Letitia James, City Council Member Robert Cornegy Jr., Borough President Eric Adams, Assemblywoman Tremaine Wright, and Kings County Supreme Court Justice Sylvia Ash, among others), turned up and turned out for this year’s runway looks.
In addition to Moshood’s iconic takes on traditional African styles and motifs, the show included bold designs from seven emerging Black talents — Identity Designs, Icy Connections, Rasta Royal Elegance, Litila Clothing, Delia Alleyne, King Wallace and Edgewear Designs — all playing on themes of pride, roots and #AfrikanSpirit.
