Here's to the Protesters (Black Lives Matter)
Not everyone has the capacity to get out there in the middle of a pandemic to protest anti-blackness and police violence. We can’t all carry our collective anger into the streets and challenge the powers that be, and that’s okay. There are different roles we all can play. Some of us are educators; some are bearing witness; others are leading the economic arm of this movement. Some of us, frankly, are exhausted from fighting for Black lives when hardly anyone else cared, and are now taking a much-deserved rest.
But since last week, thousands have put their bodies on the line to protest throughout Brooklyn (and beyond), from Grand Army Plaza, to McCarren Park and the Brooklyn Bridge. So here’s to the protesters — thank you for your courage. We also applaud the commitment of the visionary photographers featured here who are documenting this uprising:
