BK Loves MJ Block Party
This weekend’s dose of Black Joy (and #PeakBlackness) is brought to you from the eighth annual Brooklyn Loves Michael Jackson Block Party. Hosted by Spike Lee yesterday on Bed-Stuy’s Do The Right Thing Way, legions of fans came out, taking over the streets to celebrate the music of the King of Pop days before his birthday on Aug. 29.
Masters of ceremonies Spike Lee and actor Anthony Ramos led the crowd in booming sing-a-longs and played hype man for dance-offs — with cameos from Al Sharpton, “BlacKkKlansman” star John David Washington, and Erykah Badu, who paid tribute to Queen Aretha Franklin. #MAMASE #MAMASA #MAMAKUSA
